Treatable Cases

Dental bonding may be suitable for the following cases:

Z Discoloured teeth

This treatment is especially useful if you have not been able to achieve a level of whitening with a whitening treatment.

Z Minor cavities

Bonding is suitable for treating minor decay in the front teeth as it creates a seamless blend with the neighbouring teeth. It can also be used to protect parts of a tooth root that have been exposed due to gum recession.

Z Minor chips or fractures

Fixing small cracks is important to prevent the damage from spreading and to improve the look of your smile.

Z Gaps between teeth

Dental bonding is also used to close gaps between your teeth.

Z Misshaped teeth

Since the material used in dental bonding is individually shaped to each tooth; teeth can also be reshaped.

Z Small or large teeth

The size of the teeth can be corrected with dental bonding reshaping.

The Dental Bonding Procedure

Dental bonding usually takes about 30 minutes for each tooth. Results are visible after three easy steps.

Qualified candidates go through the following procedures:

Z Preparation

Your teeth will be cleaned to reveal the natural tooth colour. Your Leichhardt dentist will choose a shade of material that matches your natural tooth shade.

Z Bonding

To make the material bond properly, the surfaces of the tooth are coarsened. A conditioning liquid is applied on the surfaces of the tooth to be treated. The resin is then applied, shaped, and smoothened into the desired result.

Z Curing

To harden the bonded material, a special curing light is focused on the tooth for about 30 seconds.

Once the material is hard, your Leichhardt dentist will evaluate the result and may trim the tooth to perfect it.
